Bhagavath Purana explained Universe

Our generation is a generation where science is given utmost priority and importance. We see that science tries to organize and explain things rationally. Due to the advancements in science, today, we are neglecting the books written for us by our ancestors. One such book is the Bhagvat purana.
Bhagvat purana is a book which can be read by anybody. It was mainly written to bring about spiritual awakening among the general mass. It is a book where the life of lord Krishna is depicted. I have to come to some findings of my own from this wonderful book which might provoke you to accept that ancient Indian epics are nothing other than today’s “scientific” books which explain the universe.

The Bhagvat purana starts like this:
Once, in a holy place in the forest of naimisharanya, great sages headed by the sage saunaka assembled to perform a great thousand year sacrifice for the satisfaction of the lord and his devotees.
The head priest however was by the name Suta Goswami. Being the eldest of the learned, he was often sought for help regarding the doubts which involved God in it.
Once, he was asked about the creation of the Universe. This was his answer
(Refer chapter: 3, verse: 1 of the Bhagvat purana)

1. Suta said: In the beginning of the creation, the lord first expanded himself in the universal form of Purusa (Brahman or man) incarnation and manifested all the ingredients for the material creation. And thus at first there was the creation of the sixteen principles of material action. This was for the purpose of creating the material universe.
Let’s see the scientific background of this verse shall we?
Okay, now concentrate on the second sentence of the above paragraph. “And thus at first there was the creation of the sixteen principle material action”.

The universe is made up of elementary particles. The elementary particles are divided into two groups.
1. The Quarks.
2. The leptons.
There are 6 types of quarks and there are also 6 types of leptons, the electron being one of the latter. Then later there are 4 types of Gauge bosons which are responsible for the fundamental forces. Add them all up and you get 16! The magic number written in the Bhagvat Purana all those years ago!

• Quarks:
o up, down, charm, strange, top, bottom
• Leptons:
o electron, electron neutrino, muon, muon neutrino, tau, tau neutrino

Elementary bosons (force-carrying particles):
• Gauge bosons:
o gluon, W and Z bosons, photon

Now all the physicists believe that these particles make up the matter which we know: Anything that has mass and occupies space. So therefore, come to the last line of the First paragraph. All these sixteen particles were created in order to create the material universe!
So, I have tried to interpret the facts written in one of our ancient books and you can try the same. Remember, the texts written in those books can be interpreted in virtually, infinite ways. So, I say study science but study Sanskrit as well. While doing so, study life!
So therefore, i would like to conclude that Indian texts are no less than some fancy particle-physics text books. It simply needs some interest and a bit of luck as well to unlock the various mysteries entangled within them. Mysteries, which will leave us spell bound: They are really rough books with subtle knowledge!
